walk with me

September comes with the promise of cooler weather.
Morning walks have been hot -no complaints from the troops though.

Blue has become a shining example to the rest of the pack.
As a puppy she was an escape artist and thoroughly incorrigible!
She and her siblings will be 5 in a month.

Tito insists on leading the way.

Even his shadow has an attitude.

Happy, pretty Monkey.

She loves to roll in the jade plants.

Zasu prefers mud.

Luckily shaggy Lucy would rather swim.

Frijolita joins the fun. She is Blue's sister.

A rare photo of Lily standing still.

Here comes Linda (time for a haircut)!

A lovely assortment of dogs.

Hot dogs head home.

the longest month

August comes to the Yucatan on a million pairs of fly wings.
Relentless with its discomforts, it is the longest month.

Linda would spend all day on the beach if we'd let her.

Amber keeps her eyes on the ball.

Success.

Zoot is obsessed with chasing the shadows of butterflies.

Our neem tree is lovely this season;
Linda, Pete and Zoot enjoy its shade.

A little shade is better than none.

Color-coordinated Reggie, Xmul and Zoot.

I tried to take a picture of Xmul sleeping, but she noticed.

Xmul and Mo, ready to jump for a toy.

Xmul wins!

Pete and Xmul play.

Daisy and Mega enjoy a cloudy day.

summer rains

The 6 dogs of theTribe have pushed us to capacity and beyond. Thankfully, with Pete and Steve just back from the vet, there are only 2 left to be neutered. Pete has already gotten his stitches out. He is a handful (aka pain in the ass).
We've had to turn dogs away and the number of strays around is growing.  We can do no more and it's not enough.
TheTribe.

I try to focus instead on what we can do. Despite the outside becoming more and more hostile as the bug season gets into swing, the dogs have a good time.
Henry and PuppyG with Reggie and Blue behind.

These dog walking shots are harder to take than you might imagine; I do a fair amount of running backwards!
Reggie, Tito, Blue with Zasu watching.

It's the salt workers I feel for -check out the size of that salt pile behind the dogs.  All done by hand.
Eve, Zasu & Lucy with Miles trailing (as usual).

Afternoons mean rain.
Xmul and theTribe watch from under the awning.

Mornings are beautiful- the water is calm and warm this time of year.

All of theTribe love the water, but none as much as Amber!
Amber and Lex into the water...

...and out!

Amber likes summer!

Amber and PuppyG are always up for a swim.

Three super-cute little water dogs:
Amber, PuppyG and Linda

Sean drills the pups on their synchronized swimming routine.

Happy dogs, Amber in the lead.

feels like summer

It is still spring, but it sure feels like summer.
Diva has gone to her permanent home in Canada; she'll be missed.
Especially by her very good pal Amber.

Xmul is back and Zoot is in love all over again!
She is not interested.

Days have been HOT, perfect weather for a swim in the Gulf.
Linda shakes while Sean takes Twiggy for a theraputic swim.

It has been a year since we first met Linda Loca!

PuppyG thinks a mud puddle will do just fine.

Shaggy Henry in the lead.

Less-shaggy Henry after patiently tolerating a haircut with scissors.

Henry and Tito. Without all that fur they are nearly the same size.
As of May, Tito has been with us 3 years!
He's a tiny tyrant, but we love him.

We started this walk a little too late in the morning.  As soon as the cloud passed over us the dogs were ready to go home. This is the point when they petitioned me to head back. They were all looking at me as if to say "Are you nuts, don't you know how hot it is?"

Sweet Frankie, just because.

Heading home. Tito and Frankie.

My best pal Zasu, 14 years old and having fun!
